Microsoft 365 Business Standard EEA (no Teams)
This is Microsoft 365 Business Standard with Microsoft Teams removed from the bundle, sold in the European Economic Area. Everything else is unchanged: the Microsoft 365 Apps installed across devices, business email and calendaring, and cloud file storage. It is a productivity plan rather than a security plan in either edition, so it carries no Microsoft Entra ID P1, no Microsoft Intune Plan 1, no Microsoft Defender for Business and no Microsoft Defender for Office 365. Those four sit in Business Premium. The plan is capped at 300 users, and since 1 November 2025 the edition with Teams is available again.
What it is
Microsoft 365 Business Standard EEA (no Teams) is the middle Business plan with Teams excluded from the licence. The desktop and web Office applications, business email and cloud storage are identical to the bundled edition.
Who it is for
Organisations in the European Economic Area that need the installed Office applications and business email, and that run a chat and meetings platform other than Teams or want Teams on a separate line.

What is not included, in either edition
Microsoft Entra ID P1, and therefore Conditional Access. Microsoft Intune Plan 1. Microsoft Defender for Business. Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 1. All four sit in Microsoft 365 Business Premium, which contains everything in Business Standard on top of them.
One consequence worth knowing: self-service password reset with writeback to an on-premises directory is not supported on Business Standard. That requires Microsoft Entra ID P1 or P2, or Business Premium.
Which edition to choose
The requirement to use no Teams editions for net-new EEA subscriptions ran from 1 October 2023 to 31 October 2025 and no longer applies. Choose this one when Teams is not the collaboration platform, or should go to only part of the workforce.

The plan is limited to a maximum of 300 users. Microsoft Defender for Business can be added as a standalone licence for organisations under that ceiling.
Is the no Teams edition still mandatory in the EEA?
No. That applied from 1 October 2023 and was lifted on 1 November 2025 when Microsoft reintroduced the suites with Teams globally. Both editions are available to new customers.
What is different from standard Microsoft 365 Business Standard?
Only Microsoft Teams. The Office applications, email and cloud storage are identical across both editions.
Can I use Conditional Access on this plan?
No. Conditional Access requires Microsoft Entra ID P1, which Business Standard does not include in either edition. Business Premium includes it.
Can I add endpoint security?
Yes. Microsoft Defender for Business is available as a standalone licence for organisations of up to 300 users, including those on Business Standard.
Does it support self-service password reset for hybrid users?
Password reset for cloud-only accounts works. Writing the reset back to an on-premises directory is not supported on Business Standard and requires Microsoft Entra ID P1, P2 or Business Premium.
