Microsoft Intune Enterprise Application Management
Enterprise Application Management gives Intune an Enterprise App Catalog of Win32 applications that can be added to a tenant by selecting them, with install, requirement and detection settings supplied by default and editable afterwards. Microsoft hosts the applications themselves, so packaging and hosting stop being your problem. Since July 2026 it is included in Microsoft 365 E5 and E7, alongside Endpoint Privilege Management and Microsoft Cloud PKI. Microsoft 365 E3 does not include it. It requires Intune Plan 1 or Plan 2 underneath, is part of the Microsoft Intune Suite, and is also sold as a standalone add-on.
What it is
Microsoft Intune Enterprise Application Management replaces the work of packaging, hosting and maintaining detection logic for common Win32 applications. You pick an application from a Microsoft-hosted catalogue and Intune supplies the deployment settings with it.
Who it is for
Teams whose application deployment backlog is really a packaging backlog, and anyone maintaining detection rules and install switches for software they did not write.
Check your plan first
Since July 2026, Microsoft 365 E5 and E7 include Enterprise Application Management, along with Endpoint Privilege Management and Microsoft Cloud PKI. Microsoft 365 E3 does not: E3 gets Intune Plan 2, Remote Help and Advanced Analytics. So this is redundant on E5 and E7 and a real purchase on E3.

Requirements
A subscription in addition to Microsoft Intune Plan 1 or Plan 2. Included in the Microsoft Intune Suite, and available on its own if it is the only advanced capability you need.
What it does not do
It covers the catalogue applications. Line-of-business software you wrote or bought outside the catalogue still needs packaging the ordinary way, so measure your application list against the catalogue before assuming the backlog disappears.
Is this included in my Microsoft 365 plan?
In E5 and E7, yes, since July 2026. In E3, no. E3 includes Intune Plan 2, Remote Help and Advanced Analytics, but Endpoint Privilege Management, Microsoft Cloud PKI and Enterprise Application Management sit at E5 and above.
Does it host the application files?
Yes. Intune hosts Enterprise App Catalog applications in Microsoft storage, so you are not maintaining a distribution point for them.
Can I change the supplied deployment settings?
Yes. Default installation, requirement and detection settings come with each catalogue application and can be modified afterwards.
Does it cover our own line-of-business software?
No. It covers the applications in the catalogue. Software you wrote or bought outside it still needs packaging in the usual way, so compare your application list against the catalogue before assuming the backlog goes away.
Do I need the whole Intune Suite?
No. It is in the Suite but also sold as a standalone add-on on top of Intune Plan 1 or Plan 2.
